COVID-19 Chronicles:

Reflections on the 2020 Pandemic Anthology has won an award!

Jagjeet Sharma, head of the Ottawa Ethnic Media Forum (OEMF), the group that the Media Club co-partnered with in 2020 to produce the keepsake book about the pandemic, entered it in the annual awards competition held by the Canadian Ethnic Media Association (CEMA). The award for our anthology was presented virtually to Jagjeet for being the best book in the Print Category. This was CEMA’s 43rd awards presentation and its second virtual one. According to a report about the 2021 event it received a record number of high quality submissions. You can watch a webcast of the 90-minute CEMA awards ceremony at www.canadianethnicmedia.com
Those who contributed stories, articles or poems, including Media Club members and friends, were Katelin Belliveau (the Media Club’s 2020 Melba Lent Woeflé Award winner), Denise-Anne Boissoneau-M, Cynthia Cee, June Coxon, Guy Dancause, Amira Elghawaby, Susan Hallett, David Harries, Suzanne Keeptwo, Sigrid Mcdonald (from Florida), rob mclennan (yes, he does spell his name all in lower case), Raymond Pilon, Bonita “Bonnie” Preston, Jean Rath, Jagjeet Sharma, Jayne Simms Dalmotas, Kita Szpak, Ainalem Tebeje, Marlene Wurfel (from Edmonton, Alberta). Except where noted, all are from Ottawa and area. Bob Barclay was layout designer and production manager for the 103-page book which was published in 2020.
