Susan Korah shares with Media Club members an article she wrote for online magazine Convivium to commemorate National Holocaust Remembrance Day, held each January 27. The article is based on an interview Korah had with Valerie Knowles on the role Cairine Wilson, Canada’s first female senator, played in the evacuation of Jewish refugees escaping the Holocaust. Knowles’ book, called First Person Canada’s First Woman Senator, was published in 1988. Both Valerie Knowles and Susan Korah are past presidents of the Media Club of Ottawa.
